Re: Mandalorian Ritual Symbology
Kandosii! I don’t know much about tarot but the detail alone is stunning me. One thing occurred to me, though- several of the houses were symbolized by some significant animal, but I didn’t see a Mythosaur anywhere. On the other hand, as such a universal image, I can see how it would be hard to conf...

Re: On canon Mando'a, living Mando'a, and dialects.
Hey! Let me say I have been STARVING for Mando’a discourse over the past while, even to the point where I feel like I’m getting a little rusty- thanks for getting me going again with such a fun point! My first instinct for this is to use “jorhaa’i teh”- to ‘speak from’. To me, o’r has a more sterile...

Google Translate
We’ve all heard of the old google-translate-it-until-it’s-unrecognizable game. Of course, this can’t be achieved in Mando’a- any online translators that do exist usually only have English and Mando’a, and no one expects them to work well, anyway. I just found an old Google document, though, where I ...

Ah, I’ve tried a few times, but I find translation more enjoyable. I really like working out the intricacies of moving between languages as opposed to trying to generate content of my own

Re: Song translations
After a few hectic months, I finally got a moment to work on something. Here's "Amanda," another addition to the growing collection of random Green Day songs. Let me know if any of the artistic license I took doesn't make sense- I think the last line of the chorus might be a little confusing, I phra...

Re: Musical Styles
Wow, that perfectly captures my image of Mandalorian traditional music! I remember seeing something similar done with a harmonica and finding it reminiscent as well (not quite to the extent of this, though!).

Re: To Know and To Love
Took a minute of digging, but here's the whole chunk (spoiler warning I guess?): “Bardan, I have a question I can only ask of you.” He turned and smiled. “I’ll answer if I can.” “How do I tell Darman in Mandalorian that I love him?” She [Etain] waited for Jusik to express some shock or disapproval. ...

Re: To Know and To Love
Personally, I would keep it the same just for its significance- there’s a whole scene in the Republic Commando books where it’s established that makes it and its meaning seem very weighted in regards to culture
Re: MANDO
Towards the beginning, Grogu babbles a bit with a very clear ‘ba.’ I am almost certainly reading much too far into this, but I am convinced that it was be beginning of ‘buir’…

Completely! Just wanted to add that another way I’ve seen/used ‘slowly’ is n’iviin’yc, in case that shows up somewhere.

Re: -ness
I see what you’re saying, but the point of my idea would be that you are forced to give the information. In the Spanish example, you can see how it is impossible to use some adjectives without providing information on the gender of the noun they are altering. Here, your sentence “The gentleness of h...
Re: MANDO
One of my favorite things to do when watching anything Star Wars is to stop and read the aurebesh or Mando’a. The Mando’a writing generally just says something english that makes sense in context, but a lot of the aurebesh makes it look like they’re really running out of ideas. There was a bit of an...

Re: Absolute Direction and Geocentric Language
There are words for right and left in Mando'a- staabi and payt in canon and kad and kal in legends. Interesting idea, but I do think that there would be a lot of confusion; think about space. There are three dimensions to cover without any gravity to orient the speaker. On the other hand, if you wer...

Re: -ness
After thinking about it for a while, I have an idea about how this might work. This seems like a situation where the quantity affixes might be used. In Spanish, if you were to say ‘she is sick’ while dropping the subject pronoun, you would get “Está enferma.” Despite the lack of the feminine pronoun...

Re: (PARODY) Manda K'ol'ori'kaan
Nice! Just one note: I would suggest changing ‘mhi’ in line eight to ‘cuun’- by using the pronoun instead of the possessive adjective, you make it sound more like ‘we are beskar’ than the ‘our beskar’ that it is translated as.

Re: Musical Styles
Christianity went through a lot of changes, but Mandalorian culture has only recently become pacifist and centered around Mandalore. They were warlike for 99% of their history. I don’t see how this discredits the idea of some form of electronic music occurring at some point, especially with the div...

Re: Musical Styles
Sabine is... special. But individual interest does not speak for cultural norms. I don't see electric music being 'the' Mandalorian style or their go-to fall back at all. Much of what I was trying get across was that it might be a factor in the evolution of music. Obviously, traditional forms would...
