Re: The Mando'a Bible Translation Project
Well, I did say my grammar was shaky. If "ru'sirbu" is more acceptable than "ru sirbu", then I'm fine with that, and will edit to that effect. I had changed it around a couple of times because I wasn't sure. For verse 2, I used "tra" in the sense of space, or the Void, instead of sky. For further di...

Re: List of Custom Words
Anila - Totality, wholeness, completion. From "ani," meaning "total, complete," which is in turn from "an," meaning "all." Riye'miit - Blessing. From "riye," meaning "favour, benefit," and "miit" meaning "word." Sha ca'nara - Existing phrase meaning "specific time," but I have used it in place of "w...

Re: Creating new words, yay or nay?
I say yes to new words. Mando'a's ( :S ) limited vocabulary can be a significant hindrance when translating non-Mando concepts. Also, yes to English syntax rules. "Ni ven gaa'tayli gar," for example, just sounds more straightforward and logical as "I (future tense prefix) help you" than in any other...

The Mando'a Bible Translation Project
Su'cuy, vode. Naak ti gar. As I mentioned on the other Bible thread, I'd been translating solo until I found this board. Starting from the first chapter of Genesis (I'm not sure what version of text I'm using, but it doesn't seem to be the New International Version or the King James Version), here's...

Re: The Mando'a Bible (just verses. NOT the whole thing)
Well, here's one big reason I joined this board: I've been translating the Bible solo for a few weeks now, and it didn't occur to me to check if anyone else was doing the same until a couple of days ago. Derp. I started from Genesis, and I've done chapters 1 to 5 and I'm on 6. But since this thread ...

Re: Epa, tra'cya bal ba'slana the Mando way
On the subject of punctuations, I've been doing some English-Mando'a translation recently, and I've found it really convenient to stick with standard punctuation and the rules that apply to it. Quotation marks, semicolons, commas, full-stops. Everything. Even question marks. It's just neater that wa...

Re: Welcome to Learn Mando'a!
Su'cuy, ner Mando'vode! Call me Ken for short, if you will. Great to see an online community of Mando'ade. I've been picking up Mando'a for a few months now, and my grammar is a bit shaky. Also, there's literally no one near me who speaks Mando'a, so I'm looking forward to polishing up my ...
