I somehow never realized that. I just kind of assumed it was pronounced like it's given in the glossary because...

I don't know really. Wow I'm bad with words.

though now i want these two ways of saying it to be parts of two distinct dialects of the language

Personally, I'm just gonna chalk it up to languages quite messy at times. That could be due to the fact that I'm either deprived of too much sleep, or not enough though, lol

Not sure about jorso'ran, but I always figured that kar'ta was because it might have been pronounced that way once, but that it softened over time. Try saying it fast without the 'o' sound, but keeping the rest of the pronunciation. There's a soft vowel sound in there.

Well, since they change syllables to fit the meter, it would make sense to me that it would be KAR-tah normally and ka-ROH-tah for the meter.
