I've looked everywhere for this and couldn't find it, I was hoping one of you guys could translate this.

"We are born to die, we live to be remembered."

Mhi cuyi ru'goten ash'amur, oyaci cuyir partayli.

We are birthed to die, we live to be remembered.

Technically, goten is a noun but mando'a doesn't have a word for "to be born."

Hi,

I hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread, Linebeck. But I would also greatly appreciate the help of this forum with a translation, and I prefer to keep a forum nice and tidy by not opening too many threads with a similar topic ...

Anywho, the translation I require is of the phrase "we are all the same, because we are all unique". Especially the last word is hard to find. So far I have "Mhi (cuyi) an adla, jorcu mhi (cuyi) an ...".

Thank you in advance!

P.S. oddly enough, I only found the translation of "same" on the first version of the LingoJam translator. There is no translation for the word in version 2. Anyone know the reason for this?

We are all the same, because we are all unique.

Mhi cuy an aras, jorcu mhi cuy an sol'tan.

We are all [the] same, because we are all unique.

Here's a resource I use for a lot of my translations:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8-c9y ... EtdW8/view

It has a larger dictionary than Mando'a's front page, and it lays out a lot of the grammar rules for the language.

Speaking of grammar, quick lesson: verb suffixes use the vowel root when speaking in the third person, and no root at all when speaking in the first person.

To be - cuyir

I am - Ni cuy
You are - Gar cuy
We are - Mhi cuy

He/she is - Kaysh cuyi
They are - Val cuyi
It is - Bic cuyi

Ori'vor'e Ge'tal Buy'ce!

For the link as well. Very useful for helping me transcribe the phrase (among other things), because doing it letter by letter would be "wrong" :)

Edit: just noticed that link was to be found in one of the stickies. Makes sense of course ... Next time I'll dig a little deeper before posting :p

Greetings, I would like to add to this thread to keep the ammount of threads short.

I would like to know what the rule is for the " ' " in the mando'a runes
I want to tattoo the phrase : Family ismore than blood, or Aliit ori'shya tal'din

how does one put the ' in runes? are they ignored? is there a space? a symbol?

many thanks in advance

It's inserted in the normal place. The symbol is just a small triangle in the same place, hypotenuse from lower left to upper right.

Let's see if the code works

Aliit ori'shya tal'din

Aliit ori'shya tal'din

oh yeah, you can also see its use in my sig

Odd, in the sticky, the symbol is indicated as a "beten" and more than a little triangle ... I guess the mando font didn't include that.

Oh well, too late now, my own mando'a tattoo is already on my skin :p
