Re: Welcome to Learn Mando'a! (Post Here to Introduce Yourse
Olarom, Dsparkeyjr! Glad to meet you. Regarding speaking opportunities, none have been arranged yet, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Part of the problem is our geographic diaspora -- I'm pretty sure most of us have not met in real life, and on the infrequent occasion that we were all online a...

Re: Mandalorian Writing Systems
I'm curious to know how you set up the frequency analysis. If the spreadsheet will show your work, I'd love to see it. Did you do the frequency analysis of the occurrence of those characters in the wordlist, or of the sounds they represent in the Romanisation of each word? I'm mostly curious as to w...

@BlackSwordKirito - http://www.fonts.com/support/faq/installing-fonts Basically, download whichever TTF font you want to use (either of ErikStormtrooper's variants, or the one created by A'nu Biss), remember where you put it, then follow the guide at the above link which corresponds to the version o...

Re: Mandalorian Writing Systems
I concur. If you don't have time to do the frequency analysis, I can try writing up a script to automatically analyse, though I'd have to go through the dictionary by hand first anyway in order to extract the individual sounds we'd be representing for use in constructing the search pattern(s).

Re: Regarding the Transliteration of Mando'a...
For the vowels you had questions on, I'm mostly looking for examples from the Mando'a vocabulary which make use of those sounds (my vocabulary is lacking due to being lazy about practising) -- unless you're just looking to use the Mando'a miitgaan for transliterating aruetii words, in which case nev...

I'm separating your list by consonants vs vowels, mostly for my own notes: Consonants: ( IPA transcription reference )

[th]sound[/th][th]IPA[/th][th]examples[/th]

m m m an, m o m

n n n o, n ight

d...

Re: Informal Daily Chat Availability
And that was because for some reason registered channels are set by default to disallow non-voiced users from speaking at all, meaning I would have to explicitly give you voice. Apparently administering a registered IRC channel is complicated. It is made worse by the fact that I cannot figure out ho...

Re: Mandalorian Writing Systems
One problem I am noticing as I sit here hand-writing various letters of the font: Every character is solely based around a primary vertical line, and the other differentiating marks are occasionally too subtle, leading some letters to look quite similar while hand-written. And actually, despite my p...

No stones in gardens, just nostalgia for times past. I used to be one of those active members as well, and there was Vlet, Cuyan, Raeth, several others whose names escape me at the moment, and we cannot forget the original founder of the board, MsLanna. :) Don't worry about this place dying; LFL see...

Re: Regarding the Transliteration of Mando'a...
I swear I remember reading something from Kar'buir stating that each vowel had a consistent pronunciation in any occurrence, but I cannot find any record of that so my memory may be faulty. If that is the case, though, then we would only need as many vowel characters as there are vowel sounds in the...

Re: Informal Daily Chat Availability
Osik. I thought I fixed that. I'll post back once it is no longer invite-only. Ok I removed the invite-only mode flag and locked it so it should not get re-added. I think the problem is that I accidentally made it invite-only the first time around, then locked it, then when I removed it the last tim...

Re: Mandalorian Writing Systems
Oh believe me, I'm the first in line for a phonetic writing system. I believe that if you can read the word, you should be able to pronounce it with 100% confidence as well. I also think numbering systems should be logical (not like Arabic numerals, more like Chinese 1-5 and 10). The only caveat is ...

FYI I finally got around to configuring my Quassel server (IRC repeater) so I can access it from work, so I will be logged-in and paying-attention-to the IRC channel during working hours every day for the foreseeable future. If you want to join me for a chat, feel free to hop onto Freenode IRC #mand...

Re: Mandalorian Writing Systems
Something I just noticed about the font used in be'Taljair MANDOR.pdf document and b'A'nu modified font in this thread is the disparity against the original font as designed by Philip Metschan ( also visible without any numbers or special characters on be'Karbuir old website ). It seems as though th...

Olarom! Your perception is accurate; many of the formerly-active members have had life happen and are unable to focus very much on the community side of this site, and as for myself, I have been inattentive due to my massive list of side-projects (and a little overwhelmed at being responsible for a ...

Re: New fanfilm
Wayii! Not the best fan film I've ever seen, but very good -- the fact that they used Mando'a added some great colour. The biggest issue for me was the armour was from the wrong era; their kits were all Modern era, whereas Kotor took place during the Neo-Crusader era, so if anything they should have...

Re: Total guide into Mando'a
Taljair, the fonts I provide in the forum post editor are the old (oldmando) and new (newmando) fonts listed on Erikstormtrooper's site: http://www.erikstormtrooper.com/mandalorian.htm. Where did you acquire your font? For your presentation of passive voice, gerunds, and progressive verbs, did you c...
