Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far

Also I have to explain why I dared to change some of the word meanings of the original Kar’buir’s vocabulary. can'gaal [ kahn-GAHL ] - migrating bird, similar to swan but bigger and with light-grey feathers (noun) Previously "starfighter". I worked based on the original vocabulary. The “can” stem co...

Re: Hopefully I can help: A Discussion Thread

Adoption is very easy, one simple line. Ni kar’tayli gai sa’ad. Seriously though, using any form of mando’a, be it said or written just needs an aplication. So far i found one only, since not many mando knowing folks around here. My family curses in mando’a. And since the curses arent as vile as in ...

Im thinking that initially the mando’a could be written with sharpened sticks. I found these examples that were actually used by chinese.

Re: Transcription of loanwords

My theory is: Mandalorians, first as only Toungs, have been here for quite a while. I suppose that they witnessed the initial split in the Je’Daii order. So my guess would be that considering there were lots of different languages, Mandalorians borrowed the word from one of them. Possibly from some ...

I suppose based on the latest words offered we can just agree that ‘nak’ means “angle”. In geometrical sense.

Re: Mandalorian Writing Systems

My idea was basically this. Mandalorians, compared to other nations, dont need very sophisticated writing system. So the alphabet is fully phonetic. You write it as you hear it. If its K you hear, its the letter you write. Never understood why english has two letters to write same sound of one lette...

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far

Actually no, didnt mess up the cells. I changed the meaning of the original word because to me it made no sense really. Couldnt figure out how starfighter could have developed from these stems. So starfighter is tra’gaal, and can’gaal is a bird.

Re: Total guide into Mando'a

I think i referenced the source guide on which this thing is based on (MLD). So the alphabet was transferred from there without any changes.

Re: List of Custom Words

Well, thats an interesting question and i’ll try to explain my position. Of course we need a language we could use. But if we separate it from mando culture as it was described, we’ll lose lot of what this language was about. I mean we can add a word for “hero” and cross out all the words for stab c...

Wow, some of these first translations were clunky. I feel like I should apologize for making people read those. I also feel like I'll be saying that about this entire thread a year from now. Dont worry, ner vod. Thats what we’re all here for. To create and mold the language into something good enou...
