Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far

Osik, sorry, got my roots mixed. Comes to the same thing, though. I'm inclined to disagree about the infinitives, because you don't say ni jorhaa'i , you say ni jorhaa'ir , suggesting that the -ir suffix isn't the infinitive, it's a finite form. (And because it's Mando'a it's present tense by defau...

Re: Words i accumulated or invented so far

Stuff that showed up in the course of a translation project: Coined ‘swoops’ as follows: sen – low + kih – small + diryc – ship = senkih'diryc, swoop-bike. I think you got something here mixed up. Diryc is low, not sen , isn't it? I came up with ' ge'riduur ', from ' ge ', almost, and ' riduur ', h...

Apologies if you weren't talking to me, but I haven't done any work over there yet...

Re: "Ash'amur Ti Ijaat" | Die With Honor Translation

EDIT:
Changed nu'chaab'yc (fearless) to nu'chaab'la, to make it sound (and rhyme) better.
Changed Ruusaan (what I used for trust, with the assumption that ruusaanir meant to trust) to ruusii, from Tal'jair's extended dictionary.

Re: Applying Our Culture Practically

If you wouldn't mind posting those pics, I'd love to see them. I intend to make my own set of beskar'gam sometime this year, and I would love to have the specs from an authentic(ish) set to base m own design off of. If you want help/support/resources when you make your beskar'gam , you should check...

Thank you! I enjoyed translating it (and wrestling with the lyrics all of the next Sunday afternoon...)!

Thanks! The meter gets better after you get used to it. The only major problem is when I put in "Mhi munit tome'tayl shotah iisa", which is an even number of syllables, but still two more syllables than any other line.

"Mhi Mando'ade Verde"

Here's a poem I wrote just for fun a while ago. The rhythm is a little bit tricky to tackle. Each line starts with an unaccented syllable, whether the previous syllable was accented or not (it usually is, though). Mando'a : Mhi nyni teh prudiise, Mhi nyni aaryc jat. Gar draar nu'haatyc mhi, Gar draa...

"Ash'amur Ti Ijaat" | Die With Honor Translation

Here's a little something I worked on sometime last week. Then I wrestled over the lyrics all afternoon yesterday... Re: Mando Code

Personally, I would un-infinitize enteyor, and use kyr'amu (die) instead of kyr'am (death).

On the other hand, what does aras mean?

Also, just so you know, it's aliit with two i's and one t, not alitt with one i and two t's.

In that case, I believe I would just use Ni nu'kartayli ge'royar. (Which assumes that ge'roya can be turned into the verb ge'royar, to play) Literally, the sentence would mean "I don't know to play," which I believe is good enough.

I believe that the word/prefix Tion covers that.

I think of Mando as the word, and Mando'ad as kind of a demonym
Interesting, I hadn't thought of that. It does make more sense, though.

Mandalorian (adj.)?

So I was thinking about the word Mandalorian as an adjective in Mando'a. Mando'ad(e) means a son/daughter of Mandalore, so wouldn't Mando'adla mean a Mandalorian object? I know this example is a little bit off, but here's one anyways: Mando'adla tracy'ur might mean 'Mandalorian Blaster'. Or is there...

Re: Welcome to Learn Mando'a! (Post Here to Introduce Yourse

Su'cuy, Mando'ade! My name is Kad Tracyn, which roughly means 'Fire Saber', for those of you who didn't know. I am very interested in becoming fluent in Mando'a, though I'm already decent at it. I wish to become a [Haatla?] Mando'ad, and want to join the Mandalorian Mercs (Mando'ade Ver'verde?). I a...
