Re: Transcription of loanwords
I'm not sure if there's some sort of consensus in the groups that use Mando'a but I personally just kind of...transcribe loanwords phonetically in Mando'a as best I can. So Gael would end up transcribed as Gayl, for example. If a sound is lacking I tend to substitute in whatever I deem to be the clo...
Re: My Metal Beskar'gam
Were you overheating the sintra possibly? I haven't had trouble with that myself and I've heard that if you heat it to the point that it's floppy then it doesn't set right. Basically you want to get it hot enough that you can manhandle it into the places you want, but not so much that the stuff droo...

Re: Conventions, anyone?
Live near DragonCon right now and I went last year. I'll be heading back to So Cal soon for school though. Given that I'm still going to be with the Mercs I'll likely end up visiting at least some of the cons in the LA area.

Re: Beskar'gam cooling system
I'd try asking around the Mandalorian Mercs forum if you can. They'd have lots of suggestions for this sort of thing given how physically demanding trooping is.

Re: Applying Our Culture Practically
I don't know if Legends canon ever said what happens with kids' names. Kad did take Darman's clan name of Skirata, but given that his mother was formerly an aruetii it might be weird if he was Venku Tur-Mukan. Really the only cases of kids taking names I can think of are cases like Boba where there'...

Oh my goodness. A way of writing it that isn't hell on the hands. I've yet to devise my own personal method because I typically just write in Latin script. Still this is super cool. Vor'e ner vod.

Re: Mobile vocabulary
I've done this. Wrote down the entire official lexicon in a notebook. In two separate ones if I remember right? I write down snippets of it in other notebooks of mine too. I'm not guaranteed to have internet or power on my phone all the time, but I do tend to carry my notebooks with me everywhere. I...

Vor'e for the list, ner vod. I'm having a problem looking at the thing though...So I downloaded that but I'm missing the font for it apparently and I'm also just kind of getting the mythosaur skull overtop the graph bits. Would you know how to fix that issue? I'm looking at it on my mac through numb...

Re: Dedicated Translation Help Thread
My guess would be to mix gal with alor, goran, or something similar. Something that would refer to a head of something or someone who makes something.

To be fair a few of them like Fett are afterthoughts. Namely Fett was just a cool sounding space name and then we added a meaning to it.

Re: Clan... .org?
Names mean things, yes. Quite a bit. Whether in Mando'a or not. I'd prefer a name that means something. As for Mando'a clan names...Fan clan names tend to use Mando'a words and at least some of the canon clans do as well. Skirata comes from skira and Fett comes from Vhett, for canon. Skirata can be ...

Re: Pronunciation?
From what I understand there isn't really an explanation for why it's spelt that way. It's also the only word in the canon lexicon that's like that pronunciation wise from what I know. In theory there'd probably be other words spelled that way in the language. My personal theory for why is that it w...

Re: Dedicated Translation Help Thread
The morphological mode of Mando'a is primarily aggluntinative, if that's what you're asking. Which is to say we just kind of smash words and word endings onto existing words to make new ones. There's some other ways words get formed in Mando'a but that's one of the main ones and the main one I see u...
Re: My Metal Beskar'gam
Dickie's coveralls are honestly used by a lot of people in the Mando Mercs club. Really anything works so long as it gets the look across. Some people use yoga pants sewn to a matching top, for example. I'm using an air force flight suit because I was able to find a nice one for under 50 bucks. As f...

Vor'e indeed! One thing I suggest is grabbing the numbers and prepositions and sticking them in that document too. They're pretty vital to basics and are kind of a pain to track down at times. Though you're probably on that since it's a work in progress and things take time. I'll look through the me...

Re: Dedicated Translation Help Thread
1. The sentence is intelligible and correct as far as I can tell. Save two things. First is that the verbs aren't conjugated. To produce the stem you drop the -r at the ends of verbs. Without dropping the -r it comes out as "I to feel". With be'kad you need to add a beten, the little apostrophe, in ...

Irish myth
Got kind of bored today so I started translating some small bits from Irish myth. Started with one of my favorite parts of the Táin bó Cuailnge. Namely the part where Medb asks Fedelm what she sees for the upcoming war. Ke jorhaa'ir, Fedelm! Tion gar haati cuun akaan'ade? Ni haati talyc, ni haati ge...

Re: Clan... .org?
Mando'a doesn't have an indefinite article, that is to say "a" or "an". We have two separate definitive articles but they are very rarely used. Mando'a largely functions without articles at all.
